Check out Socialcast’s newest feature additions, fixes, and updates for the month of August*:

1. Accessing Archived Groups Through Group Dashboard

Groups are essential to collaborating and facilitating discussions within a community, whether it’s around a certain department, team, project, or topic of interest. As more and more groups are created and used to manage conversations, we wanted to make it easier for teams to go back and access the valuable information in these groups once they were archived.

Group members and administrators will now be able to click on the Group button from the left navigation bar to access all their groups, including Archived groups.

From the Groups Dashboard, users will see a new set of options under the filter dropdown, which includes the following:

  • All – shows all Active and Archived groups that you are a member or admin of
  • Active – shows all Active groups that you are a member or admin of
  • Archived – shows all Archived groups that you are a member or admin of
  • Group Admin – shows all Active and Archived groups that you are an admin of
  • Group Member – shows all Active and Archived groups that you are an member of

2. Searching for Requestable Private Groups

A while ago we released a new setting for Private groups so that membership could be requested. Non-members would not able see any of the content inside the group, but could request access from the Groups Directory. We have improved the discovery process and have included these requestable groups in the Search suggestion drop-down for easier access.

To enable discovery of an existing Private group, go to the group Settings > Edit Settings > See More Options > enable “Allow non-members to request membership“ > Save.

3. Viewing External Contributor Group Memberships

One of Socialcast’s main focuses is to improve and build upon the External Contributor experience, by enhancing their functionality as well as their management and provisioning. Our first enhancement comes around the ability to view the groups that an External Contributor is a part of. To view an External Contributor’s group memberships, visit their profile and click on the “Groups” tab above the Share Form.

4. Changing Profile Photo for External Contributors

External contributors can now manage their own profile photo by going to their profile page, mousing over their photo, and selecting “Change Photo”.

5. Warning for Closing Out Project Objectives

There’s nothing more gratifying than checking an item off a to-do list. Socialcast Projects makes it super easy to manage objectives, tasks, and due dates to boost overall productivity. But before crossing that item off your list, ask yourself, did you really complete everything you needed? If a user tries to close out an Objective in a Project that still contains an uncompleted task, a confirmation alert dialog will now appear to remind users of outstanding Tasks. Users will have the chance to proceed or cancel. If they chose to proceed, this action will result in the Objective and all corresponding Tasks to be closed out as well. All Tasks and Objectives that are closed in this manner will reflect a completed date of the current date.

6. Reactivating Archived Town Halls

Town Halls can be used to facilitate many important discussions, and the best part, they can be archived for future reference. However, sometimes updates are required even after a Town Hall has ended. This is why we’ve added the ability to reactivate a Town Hall. This new feature allows admins to modify the content and settings of a Town Hall to answer unanswered questions and/or potentially run a second session. To reactivate a Town Hall, go to Settings and click “Reactivate Town Hall”. A confirmation banner will appear at the top of the screen indicating that the Town Hall is once again, active. Reactivated Town Halls will maintain their original Duration, Speakers, Moderators, Attendees, Questions/Answers, and will be set to start in 2 hours from when it was reactivated.

*Please note that On-Premise clients will receive these features in a future release.
