Ending Support for Desktop App, Outlook Plugin, and BlackBerry Mobile App

Starting February 28th, 2015, we will no longer support the Socialcast Desktop App, Outlook Plugin, and BlackBerry Mobile App and these apps will no longer be available for download. Users who have previously installed versions of these apps will still be able to use them; however, we will cease development and support efforts.

We came to this difficult decision after evaluating our usage data, where we observed that a very small percentage of Socialcast users actually utilize these apps. We decided that we would like to invest our resources into developing features that drive more value to the end user and increase productivity. Furthermore, the mobile experience will continue to be a key area of focus for Socialcast, especially as our users and market trends shift towards working on-the-go.

With that said, we have one final release of the Desktop App, version 3.2.4, to ease the transition away from the Desktop client. You can download this app by going to the Apps page from your Socialcast community.

The following issues are addressed in release v3.2.4:

  • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the client to disconnect and real-time updates to stop working.
  • Fixed the ability to edit a message. This will now automatically take you to the specific message in edit mode.
  • Removed an unpopulated category dropdown.
