Feature and Mobile Updates: October 2015

Hi Everyone! For the month of October, we’ve released improvements around files and integrations*. We also have another version of the Android App available for the download, and an iOS App release coming out shortly. Check it out below:

1. List View for Files

Based on overwhelming feedback, we’re happy to report that we’ve improved the viewing options for group and personal files! Previously, we only provided a thumbnail view of files, making it hard for users to fully read the file name and find specific attachments. To address the discoverability issue, we have introduced a new view that allows Socialcast users to see attachments in a list view (similar to how they are used to seeing their files on their computers) within the Files tab of a group or user profile. This new list view makes it significantly easier to identify and download files in the community!

In list view, we display the following information:

  • Thumbnail image
  • File Name
  • Date Added
  • Actions > Download, View Post, and Delete (if you’re the one that uploaded the file)

List view will be the default view for Files going forward but users will still have the ability to toggle between tile view and list view. Users can also sort the files by Name, File Type and Date by selecting the appropriate sort filter under ‘Sort by’ dropdown. Searching for files is still available through the global Search bar at the top of your community page.

2. Integrations Visible to All Group Members

To promote adoption of our newly launched Integration Store, we’ve made the Integration page within a group visible to all group members. This will allow all users to better understand which integrations are available and which ones have been added to the group.

Regular group members will see all the available integrations under ‘All integrations’ tab; however, they will not be able to ‘Add’ an integration to the group at this time. Similarly, group members will be able to see all the integrations configured for the group under the ‘Configured Integrations’ tab, but they will not be able to modify or delete any configured integrations. Only group admins have the permission to add and update integrations. Regular group members will have to continue to work with their group admins to add any integrations of interest.

3. Socialcast Android App 3.3.2 – Available Now

An updated version of the Socialcast Android App is now available for download in the Google Play Store. This release includes bug fixes and performance updates.
